KATHMANDU:Addressing a meeting of the Legislature-Parliament’s State Affairs Committee today, Minister Nidhi said, “The ongoing preparations for the Constitution amendment is meant to find a political consensus on holding the elections.”
Preparations for amending the country’s main law and formulation of electoral acts were going on simultaneously, he said, urging one and all not to doubt the government’s preparations for the timely poll. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi has said the government realised that a political understanding was essential to hold the elections at all three tiers.
The agreement on creation of local units on the basis of areas (ilakas) was an attempt to find a middle path to sort the disputes over the restructuring of local bodies, he said.
