Japan to help Nepal construct Kathmandu-Naubise tunnel

Nepal has allocated around Rs 1.66 billion for the development of the project that is expected to ease travel to and from Kathmandu by connecting Sitapaila of Kathmandu with Naubise of Dhading district. But the construction work has not made much progress. At Wednesday’s meeting with Japan’s Vice Foreign Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Nobuo Kishi, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ sought Japanese assistance for the project. On his part, the Japanese Minister agreed to initiate the process for providing Rs 18 billion for the project, PM Dahal’s Secretariat informed. Japan has responded positively to Nepal’s request for assistance in the construction of Kathmandu-Naubise Tunnel.
