The fact that I haven’t found Buffalo meat after moving the United States gave me an idea to make choila just out of anything: Soy Chunks Choila for vegetarians (recipe here) and Chicken Choila (recipe here) . Today, I thought of making choila out of Goat Meat (mutton) and I opted for an easy route because I wanted to fix something easy and quick. I was little hesitant at first as I was experimenting the process however the final output was simply awesome and therefore I wanted to share the recipe with you all. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday congratulated and honoured the Nepal national football team after they won the AFC Solidarity Cup title recently. “Nepal had not won any big title in football in past 21 years,” Dahal said, congratulating the team, “But, we have won three big titles within past one year.” Dahal said the recent win had also added pride to the nation and elevated the confidence of Nepalis. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister reiterated that the government had decided to provide Rs 300,000 cash prize to each member of the winning team in a bid to encourage the sportsmen. Dahal also assured that the government was effectively working to promote sports sector in the nation.Minister for Youth and Sports Daljit Shreepaili was also present on the occasion.

Mixed-religion families prone to frictions

Ram Bahadur Chaudhary of Deukhuri, Dang district has long been resisting pressure from his brother, a local Christian leader, to covert. His continuous refusal has miffed his brother and other local Christians.Ram Bahadur was also pressured to marry a Christian girl from Bardiya, but he rejected the proposal and married a Hindu woman instead. “My refusal to marry a Christian woman as proposed by my brother led to lots of friction and our joint family separated,” he said.There are lots of instances in Dang of conversion into Christianity leading to severe friction among family members. Such friction is usually seen among families with both Hindu and Christian members. In many such families quarrels break out on a daily basis. Setu Nepali in Gadawa Lachhipur, a recent convert to Christianity, has been in a dilemma as she follows a different religion from her husband. “This difference between the wife and husband leads to quarrels and fights in the family on a regular basis,” said Sakaal Ram Chaudhry, a local teacher. “We have been telling her husband to be more considerate, yet the conflicts take place almost every day.”

Despite repeated attempts to acquire magisterial powers and to act as a quasi-judicial body, the Metropolitan Police has remained a ‘toothless’ entity for over a decade.Designed under the urban policing concept and established in 2007, the Metropolitan Police in Kathmandu Valley, has been functioning only as a coordinating body for police units.“We were supposed to have quasi-judicial and magisterial powers but stakeholders in the government and the bureaucracy were not in any position to give us the ‘teeth’ to maintain law and order in the Valley,” AIG Pratap Singh Thapa, chief police commissioner, said at a function marking the 11th Metro Police Day in Kathmandu, Wednesday. Several reports have been prepared with government stakeholders and experts to realize the metro police concept but these have remained useless, he stressed.The police leadership has been raising issues such as authorizing political gatherings and protests, imposing curfews when necessary, exercising preventive detention powers, and licensing hotels, lodges, massage parlours and entertainment businesses, among other things. As per the metro police concept, police in the Valley have also sought an end to the dual command system.
